Rock Sumner
I became a member of Gospel Baptist in the summer of 2006 under the preaching of Pastor Bobby Edwards and became involved with the ministries of the church such as the music program and teaching Sunday School.
An amazing thing took place in November 2016 when I answered our Lord’s call to preach and was licensed by the church in May 2017 serving in preaching support with our Pastor, Stephen Hill. In September 2021, Pastor Hill allowed me to conduct and preach our weekly Wednesday night services which has been a blessing to me beyond measure.
The church congregation voted and approved through a recommendation from Pastor Hill and the Deacon Board to appoint me as an Associate Pastor with my primary duties being in our Family Life ministry. It is an honor and privilege that God has given to me to serve Gospel Baptist Church in this capacity and with my wife Donna, who is my biggest supporter and assists me in reaching out to our church family and others who are dealing with the struggles of life.
I give the Lord the glory and praise for His blessings and many thanks to the members of Gospel Baptist Church for the opportunity to serve them in this capacity.
Pastor Rock also served as our Interim Senior Pastor from June 2023 to December 2023 while we prayerfully awaited God's call for our new Senior Pastor.
